tiny static are excited to have the use of Stour Space’s beautiful gallery to present a scratch of their first project, the multimedia production SLEEP. The project is still in an early state of development but is ready for its first presentation to an audience.
Fusing film, sound and live performance, SLEEP follows three characters and their experiences with sleep and sleeplessness over the course of one night. The themes have been approached in a manner that is more visceral than narrative, hoping to share with the audience the restlessness and anxiety induced by one of the character’s insomnia.
The company tiny static was created by Jessica Kathryn and Rebecca Wilk last autumn. Both studied BA (Hons) Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths, University of London, but they graduated in different years and did not meet until 2013. The decision to collaborate was almost instantaneous due to unanimity in both ideas and working methods. After gaining professional experience in both stage and screen projects in a variety of roles they are now keen to commit to making their own work. Their preoccupation is in filmmaking, where they believe in a lateral process inspired by devised theatre.
The 35-minute performance will begin at 5:30pm on Saturday 1st February. Reserve your ticket through this website, and for your own comfort you may like to bring a pillow to sit on!
