Mark McClure: Crossed Lines
Launch 26th September, 7-10pm, free entry
Open 27th September – 3rd October, 9am-late, free entry
A pop-up exhibition of past and present sculptural, wooden and printed works to coincide with the completion of Mark’s 100 metre mural on the newly completed school opposite Stour Space. 25% of sales will go towards the Save Hackney Wick campaign – with the aim to reduce the impact of redevelopment on the creative communities of Hackney Wick.
Mark McClure Studio spans a unique space between the worlds of fine art, functionality and visual design – creating studio works, alongside public art, bespoke surfaces and murals for both indoors & out, with a bold, geometric style. Mark has created commissions and exhibited works both in the UK & abroad.
Trained as a graphic designer, Mark has worked in illustration and digital interactive design for a number of years – experience which is still referenced in his studio’s output and aesthetic. Often working with wood and found materials – the current works explore themes of structure, public space and our interaction with the built environment. The resulting artworks and installations often set function and utility up against aesthetics and playfulness and disrupt the space they inhabit with abstract, organic geometry.
