Sam Huddleston is a photographer who focuses on live music and portraits. He has the ability to capture the feeling, the style and the emotion of the music and this is reflected in his work. Sam travelled to America, visiting San Francisco, the Bay Area and the South By South West festival in Austin, Texas.
“America is a wild place and their people reflect this. Both San Francisco and Austin, Texas, are thriving with creativity that makes them stand alone from other cities in America. Austin is a perfect environment for a festival like the South By South West with amazing venues on almost every street. In March, artists and musicians flood Austin and take over the town in a whirlwind of concerts, meet-ups and after-parties, and enjoy beer, margaritas and Mexican food.
These series of photos reflect the chaos and creativity that is possible when situations like this are created. The exhibition has a brilliant mix of the new and the old. It features a number of up-coming British bands that travelled to Austin to showcase their music. There are also unique shots of other new artists, as well as more established ones, both from the US and beyond. These combined with photos taken along the journey really reflect the feeling of the festival and its music.”
All profits from this exhibition will go to the charity Youth Music. www.youthmusic.org.uk
Large framed prints will be reasonably priced and there will be a wall with postcard 5×7 size shots available for purchase.
Music promoter and DJ Jonny Owen, who was at SXSW festival, will play a DJ set during the opening night from 7pm which will feature much of the music involved with the exhibition.
