Challenging Low-Self Esteem and Building Confidence – Ashanty Alves
One of the main reasons why people don’t follow their passion is based on the lack of self-belief and the “I can’t do it attitude”. This workshop aims to tackle low self-esteem and address the narrative that we tell ourselves that often hold us back. It will help build your self-confidence and gain a more positive outlook on life.
Topics will include:
-Exploring the negative affects of low self esteem and how it manifests
-Practical tips and exercises to help combat low self-esteem
2:30 – 3:30
Consent, Gender and Self-ship (self-care and self-love) – CeeBelle
During the workshop, we will touch on definitions, myths and stereotypes and the additional barriers black women and girls when accessing services designed to support survivors of sexual violence.
We are also an empowerment and support group for female survivors of any form of sexual violence, as well as a refuge space for black women and girls. We provide emotional and practical support on a daily basis through face-to-face, skype, facetime or telephone meetings. Our online live chat is also available every day of the year. CeeBelle provides a confidential Outreach Service across London to black women and girls aged 13+. In 2018, we expanded our remit to include Female Genital Mutilation (FGM/C).
4:30 – 5:30
A Conversation 1 – The Idvidl (pronounced individual)
The Idvidl (pronounced individual) is an interdisciplinary art and design practice that works through projects centred on the importance of the relationship with self. I am currently documenting my ongoing project called Self, to introduce the practice. We spend a lot of our time working, a lot of our time making an income. I think it is important to spend this time doing what you love for work. Of course everyone’s situation is different and you can be at any point in life when you realise what you truly want to do. How can we start this journey in growth on creating a career path that makes us happy? How do we keep going when we feel like giving up? Where can we find support?
The participants will be surrounded by a fair full of people who in what ever way are growing a passion they have. It’ll be an inspirational moment and this workshop will give participants a moment to reflect and evaluate on what they can take away from the experience.
