Tatreez is proud to present our new monthly night ‘Tatreez Amam Aman’ showcasing music spanning worlds and genres whilst baking our delicious Palestinian delights in our hot wood fired stone oven.
For the launch of this series, we are delighted to present our headline for the night ‘The Turbans’
The Turbans is an international musical collective bringing together exciting traditional near-eastern and eastern-European styles and original compositions, to create a modern and energetic performance with reverence for its ancient roots.
Grown from the intertwining paths of intrepid musical adventurers from Turkey, Bulgaria, Israel, Iran, Italy, Greece and England, many of whom were already famous in their own countries, this extraordinary project has grown in a few years into a cult name on the international festival circuit. Its members have gathered from all over the world to perform in major concerts and festivals in India, China, Turkey, Europe + all over the UK.
The Turbans is independent and run by the musicians themselves, bringing music to the people, young and old alike, mixing vibrant spontaneity and authenticity with multi-genre instrumental and vocal excellence.
“We’ve created The Turbans, now all you have to do is dance!”\
Opening up for The Turbans will be Oysland:
Oysland is London-based Klezmer band with an exuberant sound, rooted in Yiddish musical tradition, with worldwide, modern influences. They draw from their Jewish and Eastern European roots but blend their sound with an urban feel. Their performance and melodies will give you unstoppable dancing feet.
And Djing to top up the fever:
DJ NiMo Is an Australian born, London based artist who specialises in seeking out rare funk, house, disco, & pop from all over Asia, Africa, Turkey and the Middle East. Specialising in rediscovering niche genres that have briefly arisen and since disappeared into obscurity, NiMo plays music that awakens the feelings of pure joy that lie inside us all.
